WebP is a RIFF-based format and may include EXIF and XMP chunks. MetWipe removes supported metadata chunks without decoding and recompressing the image payload.
OPEN FREE TOOLSupported files are processed in the browser rather than uploaded to an application file server.
MetWipe re-inspects the generated output before reporting supported metadata as removed.
The original file is not overwritten. A separate cleaned copy is generated.
WebP uses a RIFF container. MetWipe targets EXIF and XMP chunks and retains encoded image payload chunks. A file with no supported chunks still may contain identifying visual content.
Use a non-sensitive WebP with known EXIF or XMP metadata. Scan and clean it, then inspect the downloaded copy. Open it in another viewer; if it is animated, verify playback as well as the first frame. A successful metadata check is not a full playback test.
Some viewers interpret container flags differently. Preserve the original and report reproducible compatibility errors. Other RIFF chunks and identifiers in the depicted scene are outside this cleanup scope.
Check that you selected the downloaded copy rather than the original. Read any error before retrying. Try a smaller, non-sensitive file in the same format to distinguish a file-specific issue from a browser limitation. If the problem persists, describe the format, browser and error through Contact.

Yes. A WebP container can include supported EXIF and XMP chunks in addition to its encoded image payload.
For supported WebP files, MetWipe can remove targeted EXIF and XMP chunks, create a separate cleaned copy and verify the supported metadata structures again.
No. Text, faces, addresses, landmarks and other details visible in the image remain part of the picture and require separate review.
